Burn Surgeon – Assistant or Associate Professor

The Department of Surgery at the University of Utah Health is in search of a full-time academic surgeon to specialize in burn surgery and surgical critical care. Successful applicants should be qualified at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate should possess excellent clinical skills and strong interest in providing clinical education. An interest in supporting research as part of an academic group is desired, but the position is primarily clinical. Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care are required along with Burn specialty fellowship training. The opportunity exists to focus on delivery of burn care in a stable, nationally- and internationally-recognized, ACS / ABA -verified regional adult and pediatric burn center. Our center provides acute burn critical care, acute burn and soft tissue surgery and burn reconstructive surgery with high performance teams supporting all aspects of inpatient and outpatient burn care.

The University of Utah Hospital Burn Center currently admits 350-400 patients yearly with 7,000+ clinic and TeleBurn visits annually providing care for the Intermountain West. The University of Utah Department of Surgery also maintains ACGME -accredited training programs in general surgery, surgical critical care, acute care surgery and all surgical sub-specialties. More recently, we have established an ABA Verified Burn Surgery Fellowship that is a 1-year combined ACGME SCC /Burn surgery fellowship. A successful candidate will anticipate a robust clinical practice with opportunity to fulfill their interests in all aspects of a flourishing surgical career including access to Department of Surgery research programs, Global Surgery infrastructure and international relationships, burn outreach and re-integration programs, and other areas of innovation in collaboration with faculty across the University of Utah Health Sciences institution.
