Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking a Transfusion Medicine Pathologist to join the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. This position offers a broad clinical practice with opportunities for teaching, clinical research, and quality improvement within an expanding academic medical center.

The Section of Transfusion Medicine provides comprehensive transfusion medicine and blood banking services supporting a Level I Trauma Center, Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital, and the Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center. The program includes a state-of-the-art stem cell processing facility, a high-volume apheresis service, an active blood donation service with a dedicated GMP laboratory, and a full-service blood bank.

Position Highlights:

Provide transfusion medicine and blood banking services across Rutgers and RWJBarnabas Health affiliated institutions.

Manage complex transfusion consultations, stem cell collection and infusion, adult and pediatric cellular therapy, and apheresis services.

Join an apheresis program performing red cell exchange, plasma exchange, extracorporeal photopheresis, stem cell collection, and CAR-T collection.

Collaborate with physician partners, nursing colleagues, and institutional leadership to deliver high-quality patient care.

Participate in teaching programs, departmental conferences, and grand rounds.

Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and a program participating in university- and pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trials.

Participate in departmental call coverage and promote the program at regional and national conferences.

Compensation and Benefits:

The anticipated salary for this position if hired to work is $310,000 per year.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s educational background, skills, and professional experience.
